Psalm 107:1

Thankful for Fulton

Well, here we are at the Thanksgiving season. Yet another time to remind us to be thankful. God is so good to us what else can we say, what else can we do, but thank Him! King David wrote, “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1)

There’s a growing group of people going around saying we don’t need to celebrate Thanksgiving anymore. They, of course, are wrong.  For all God has done for us, what can we do but be thankful. I am thankful for Fulton and what he has taught me this year, through his life.

I happened to walk into his room one morning and the staff was giving him a bath. They moved him from one position to another. It was hard to look at, but he didn’t complain or act out. He took it in stride.

As I left his room, I thought about the indignities he’s had to endure over the years. More than I’ll ever know. In that way he reminds me of Christ, who suffered such indignities and yet totally committed to do what the Father asked Him to do. My son is teaching me to be humble and he doesn’t even know it. This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for my son, Fulton! If you have someone in your life who models Christ to you, tell them thanks, for truly they are a gift!

Dawson

  1. Being thankful has to be developed. I am daily thinking of three things I am thankful for. Today is my family, (even though it’s in a place of brokeness). My health, and God’s provisions of a job and my ability to do the job. I am thankful for my Heavenly Father.

  2. Great analogy, Dawson! We are thankful for you and your gift of communicating life-saving truth to a lost generation of young people. We see God giving you perseverence as you travel a difficult road with your family. It is a joyful testimony.
