“Why are you cast down, O my soul? Why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him. The help of my countenance and my God.”

Self-Talk is Right From the Bible

Here’s a word from Dawson…

I have a verse here for you. Psalm 43:5, “Why are you cast down, O my soul? Why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him. The help of my countenance and my God.”

Do you know what that is? Self-Talk

Every day in every way, my life is getting better and better. So, you say these one-liners, to try to change the way we think.

Here’s some self-talk right from the Bible. David talks to himself and counsels himself, “Why are you cast down O my soul? See, he’s talking to himself.

Hey soul…

Why are you so messed up?

Why are you so upset?

Why are you so cast down?

And why are you disquieted within me?

Why are you just churning?

Self – listen to me.

Self – hope in God.

Here comes the self-help counseling:

“Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him. The help of my countenance [which gives me a smile rather than doom and gloom on my face]. The help of my countenance and my God.”

It’s okay to talk to yourself. It’s okay to counsel yourself, as long as you counsel yourself with the truth. David talked to himself, uncovered the problem, and gave the solution – all in one verse. Pretty cool!
