Psalm 34:4

Prayers Needed

This week’s life lesson will be a little different than usual. I have a very special request for you. My wife, Ruth Hill, has developed uterine and breast cancer. On Monday, June 10th, she will have her first surgery, a radical hysterectomy followed by breast surgery, 2 weeks later.

At first glance, what has happened and all we face is overwhelming, yet we have seen God work time and time again through His might grace.

This experience is very challenging. But we are confident Ruth Hill is in God’s hands and He has a special future for her. Please pray God will heal her and help us through this crisis! I would love to hear any words or thoughts you have for us! Your prayers will make all the difference in the world.

“I sought the LORD, and he answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

Your Friend,
Dawson

  1. We are very sorry to hear this. Just thank God for how MANY supporters of your ministry that you have who will all be praying for her and all of you. God will hear them all and answer them according to His will. Rest In Peace with that knowledge. God bless you all.

  2. Even though these are very scary diagnoses, you continue to encourage all of us with your positive attitude and placing everything in God’s hands. Thank you for all you share of your very personal life circumstances, it makes me feel like you truly understand what people are going through. I will be praying for your wife for God’s will and also for you all as you support and care for her through all of this. Please continue to update us on her progress.

  3. Dear Dawson,

Praying that you and your family find comfort and peace during this trial. I am going through a health trial with my husband as well. Sharing the verse I say out loud every morning.
I rejoice and exult in hope! I am steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; constant in prayer.
    Romans 12:12

I’m hoping that verse will comfort you. I am feeling almost silly for sharing it as I compare who I am to who you are.

I am sorry life has dealt you another sorrowful trial.

Thank you for your faithfulness and also for all you and your wife do as you serve our Lord. 🙏

  4. Dawson you and your family have risen above so many challenges always finding God even more faithful and powerful than the last challenge, like David. This Goliath “cancer” that has presented itself to defy the power of the living God is no match for the army of the Lord who is standing with you to defeat this defeated foe. “By the stripes of Jesus we WERE healed!”

  5. I enjoy reading about Fulton and how you and him have grown. This is news no one ever wants to get. I lost my mother and many family members and friends to cancer, what a terrible disease. Our hope and faith is in God and His healing power through Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus will show His grace mercy peace love and strength through Ruth’s journey. My mother used to tell me “para mi el vivir es Cristo y el morir es ganancia”, translated to “for me to live is Christ and to die would be a gain” my mother knew where her eternity was, in Jesus, and the terrible pain cancer and the treatments gave her never stopped her from singing praises to God! I pray that God covers Ruth with His soothing love and that the terrible days that come are shortened and the pain and suffering is limited in Jesus name. Also that if God’s will is for Ruth to experience this terrible hurt that it serves as testimony to others, and in due time Ruth will he completely healed as testament to God’s healing power, in Jesus name.

  6. This passage comes to mind to pray over your dear sweet wife.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10.

God is….is with Ruth Hill, …is her God. And God will ……will strengthen her, will help her, will uphold her. And His will is perfect, perfect even when we don’t understand. Praying He’ll be glorified in your difficult new chapter.

  7. I will be praying for healing for your wife. However, I want you to read every healing scripture and you and your wife quote those scriptures. Place, your hand on your wife’s body and say with BOLDNESS all healing scriptures. God, is moved by our faith. He has given us power and authority to call things as we want them to be. Dawson, you and your wife must choose to believe!!! Again, God is moved by our faith. Also, Mercy precedes healing. Constantly, with assurance ask the Lord to have Mercy. Be, strong in the Lord, fight with God’s power and authority.

  8. Dear Dawson,
So sorry to hear this shocking news. We will pray and believe for God’s mighty healing, and comfort and peace for her and you and the rest of the family. Love you all!

  9. Hello my Friend Dawson,
In God’s mercy He has thus far kept me from hearing those words added to my list of health concerns. My strength is in Him and I go to Isaiah 43: 2 “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
He is always present and when we come out on the other side of the river the King of Glory is every bit as wet as I am. I will pray for Ruth Hill and for all of you. He is faithful!

  10. Dawson…I met you and Ruth in Minneapolis years ago during the Halloween blizzard of 91. Since then I have had 2 wives pass into glory from cancer. My prayer for you specifically is that the Lord grant you the grace to listen, and to listen again. Ruth needs your strength and wisdom, but above all she needs your presence and listening ear as she seeks to process this as a woman. I have loved you as a brother in Christ for years. May His comfort and peace fill you both in this difficult journey. Proverbs 17:17

  20. Dawson, I was diagnosed with an inoperable stage 4 Nasopharyngeal carcinoma tumor last year. During my treatments, which have the cancer in remission now, Romans 15:13 was one of my favorite: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” I pray the Lord’s healing touch upon Ruth Hill, I pray the medical and surgical teams will have banner days when operating, may her healing be quick and complete. Be strong in the Lord. God Bless,

  22. Oh Dawson, my heart hurts for your family. Here are some verses to encourage you and Ruth Hill.

Psalm 120:1 In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me.

Psalm 121: 1-2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Isaiah 41:10 (ESV) fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

  31. Thinking of you. I go to Costco in the cold produce area and buy the bag of peeled garlic I cook in oven at 250 degrees for an hour or more. That way you keep the nutrients. Praying

  32. Dear Dawson, I know this is staggering news and I am in prayer for Ruth Hill and you and your family. When I began praying I told God I had no words for this cancer striking your wife after what you all have been through. I asked for words, and I received this: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” No, we dont get it, but God is faithful – this I do know. Prayers with Ruth Hill tomorrow for her surgery.

  33. Dawson a
