I have been greatly helped by the prayers and encouragement all my praying friends have given me over the years. I always appreciate thoughts God has given you that you send onto me. For example, my friend, Kennie Smith, emailed me this message via Mark Gries:
She said: I read this in my devotion the other day and I was thinking of Dawson and how much he has been through in his life. This passage below really reminded me of him. Please forward it to him.
“Being highly favored of God does not mean a life of unbroken happiness nor does it promise that all your dreams will come true. There is a tremendous price to be paid by those who are highly favored by God; favor means, simply, that God is willing to use you.” (Taken from the devotional on the YouVersion Bible app: Joy! To Your World! A Countdown to Christmas by Just Joy Ministries.)
How true it is! I often find myself mistakenly believing that because God has blessed me so much in the ministry, I am somehow immune from life’s struggles. One look at the life of Mary, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and yes Jesus, proves that belief is false. Real favor from God brings with it, real sacrifice. May God use these sacrifices to help us become more like Christ. Thank you, Kennie, for reminding me of this powerful truth! It really helped me!
